Dr. Mike Wants To Know – Are Slugs Magnetic?

July 29th, 2010

Hi everybody – Dr. Mike here!

I just came back from a keynote at Ball State University and wanted to share with you my latest story and lesson learned.

As you can see from the title of this Video Blog – I want to know if you think Slugs Are Magnetic?

Wondering what that means?  Check it out here:

Until next time….

Brianna & Regina – Thanks for commenting! You both reinforce my thoughts and theme of “The World Is Filled With A Boatload Of Jerks.” I’m not being mean here but they are out there – Our job is to live side by side with them (and even next to them in the office) but still save our sanity (or at least what’s left of it!). Always focus on what you have 100% control over (which is just you) and point your boots in the right direction. Focus forward. Your eyes are in the front of your head for a reason.

    Dear Dr. Mike,
I want to tell you about my work life for it totally fits your blog. yes, I see and agree that slugs are magnets. I work in an office with just my boss. When I first met her she was the kind with a extreme work ethic-be on time, be honest, if you are a penny off on the books you get written up or given a serious talk. The past two years she has not been a good roll model for me and I struggle with this. I mean she went to part time to allow me to work full time due to the economy. Her hours are 9-2. Her routine is showing up to work at 10am, leaving at 11 to go to the gym, returning to work maybe 1-1:30, leaving for the day @ 2pm. I did not get a raise this year for she claims money is tight, ok, but she uses the company credit card for personal uses, gas/eating out/other unrelated work purchases. She tries to offset what she does by giving me an afternoon off her or there. At first I said ya why should I be on time etc. but you know what I decided to do the right thing regardless for it makes me feel good! Now I was told today that my job is going to part-time w/o benefits starting Sept 1. and a $3 cut in pay with possibly loosing my job next year. The board told her to meet her budget. Her behavior and radical spending is costing me my job! Do I tell her how I feel or just continue trying to be the ethical person I am?

Just what I needed to hear after dealing with a “slug” yesterday. It has been a situation where I could not understand how the third person couldn’t see the behavior in the second person…Well now I know why, she is a slug herself. Time to get away from that!
