I can’t believe I’m going to say this but 41 year old Brett Favre, the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings quarterback allegedly did what I’ve been talking about to teenagers all across this great country of ours as a NO NO…
He allegedly was “Sexting” Jenn Sterger, a sports reporter with naked and lewd photos of himself. Yes, that’s sending nude photos of yourself to others (Oh boy this is right up there with what we all want to know about nowadays).
Apparently this is not behavior that is new to the Favre marriage. His wife Deanna stated in her autobiography, Don’t Bet Against Me! Beating The Odds Against Breast Cancer And In Life that she was ready to leave Brett before for past indiscretions.
The questions are coming in left and right – Why is Brett Favre refusing to comment on these allegations? What happened to Brett Favre if he actually did do this? What goes on in a person’s head when they do something like this? Since he has already come out and admitted to being addicted to alcohol and Vicodin will he now come out and say he’s addicted to sex? Will that be enough to convince you and I that “he didn’t have control over his actions?” Is this story worse than what we heard about Tiger Woods or Ben Rothlesberger? Since these photos were obtained by Deadspin.com through a third party anonymous person, should we trust that the story is even remotely true? Is this sports reporter, Jenn Sterger who also posed for photos for Maxim and Playboy looking for a cash settlement? Is this an attempt on her part to boost her career? Why did she wait for 2 years to come out with this?
Unfortunately this goes hand in hand with my other previous blog on the scandal of the sexy hot reporter at the New York Jets camp – Hey what’s up with the New York Jets connection here?
Brett Favre most likely will become a Hall of Famer and thought of by many as the best ever to play the game but unfortunately his legacy takes a hit on this one and it feeds into the saying that many times “you will be remembered for your last worst act.”
So here’s my question for all of you watching this right now – So what do you think? I’ll give you the last word – Did I leave anything out here? – Tell me where I’m going wrong here? – Please post your comments and I will personally reply – Finally, be sure to hit the “like” button below so that you get notified via facebook when I post more videos.
Until next time, I’m Dr. Mike Thomson reminding you to live your life with passion and purpose.
All though I would say that we as a society need to wait for all the facts and actual truths to come out, before stating our opinion on the matter, I will say that it doesn’t really surprise me. Most good athletes at any level, have a certain attitude, call it cockiness, call it confidence, call it whatever, but the point is that they have a notion inside of them that they are a little bit better, and above main society. That attitude grows and transforms as they take their skills to the next level. At some point that attitude turns into a self sense of entitlement. They feel that at their level, with their popularity, they can do what they want. That they aren’t held to the same standards in society as most people would be. That maybe they are above the law, and can get away with what they do, because of the stature in society. That they can act like creeps and commit morally-questioning acts and not think twice about it, because to them it’s “no big deal.” That they can have whatever or whomever they want because they have this sense of entitlement. Unfortunately, to me, that’s how most athletes at a high level act.
I’ve seen it, been around it, I hate to say it, but it tends to be the norm. If Brett Favre did what has been reported out there, than it doesn’t surprise me in any way. Regardless of his accomplishments in sports he’s just another athlete when it comes to these matters. Replace his name with any other athlete that has done similar or worse and the accomplishments don’t give anyone the right or lee-way to do what they do.
If it is any Joe off the street doing the same thing they would be a creep. I’d like to think he is above this type of behavior, a better person than this, and maybe in time all the facts will come out and he will be found to not have done this stuff. However, with what has been presented out there from the media, it just doesn’t surprise me at all, even if it is Brett Favre.
I feel like everyone in this day and age needs to be held accountable for their own actions and stop blaming things on everyone else. I feel like the mentality now-a-days is “If someone else did it, it’s ok if I do it to” — Own up people! Take a stand and be responsible for your own actions. Have pride in yourself and hold yourself to the best possible standards.
