Dr. Mike*
For the past 25 years, Dr. Mike has been described as
“The Master of Entertainment Comedy, Fun and
Learning” in venues as different as small seminars and international conferences or in his many radio and television appearances. His talks have now been heard by 2 million people worldwide making him a highly sought after speaker.
Dr. Mike has pursued roles as author, therapist, consultant, coach, educator, university professor, and internationally admired speaker over the years. His wide variety of professional experience started out in the public school system in Austin, Minnesota working between the schools, court system and the police department. He even coached the high school hockey team there for 7 years. From there Dr. Mike went on to work in the Department of Psychology and Psychiatry at The Mayo Clinic, where he started Mayo's first adolescent out-patient alcohol and drug service followed by opening and supervising their first ever adolescent in-patient unit. Dr. Mike went on to become the Director of healthcare centers in Minnesota, Ohio and even the first ever drug-alcohol treatment center in Europe, located in a little village outside of Stockholm, Sweden called
Knivsta. Over the years Dr. Mike has also had the roles of an Adjunct Associate Professor with The Ohio State University and Ashland University, Certified Reality Therapist (one of the youngest certified at the time) and President of three successful companies,
Thomson ETC., Inc., It’s All About Character and Good Character Media, Inc.
As a result of his wide variety of experience and notoriety, Dr. Mike was asked to be the host of the now award winning PBS series
“In Search of Character” that middle and high schools around the world are using to raise the bar for good character in students. Most recently, the Better Business Bureau has been working with Dr. Mike to help get this program into the hearts and minds of students around this country. The Better Business Bureau sees that the workforce for the next 45 years in sitting in a classroom in this country and that if those students do not get taught the necessary skills of what good character ethics really is - the future workforce will be in trouble. This has been a great networking opportunity for Dr. Mike.
Dr. Mike's latest project is really special. He was cast as the cost-host of the upcoming NBC Special
“The Learning Lunch Box” with host, Patricia Richardson, formerly the mother on the hit television sitcom Home Improvement. This television and comprehensive DVD program is aimed at helping parents prepare their K-8 kids for academic excellence in school. The national scope of this program is amazing in that it is planned to be in front of over 64 million families and 66,000 schools nationwide. It has been wholeheartedly supported by the National Associations of Superintendents and Elementary School Administrators making this a really exciting project for Dr. Mike and this country.
