For the past 25 years, Dr. Mike has been described as
“The Master of Entertainment, Inspiration, Empowerment and Learning” in venues as different as small seminars and international conferences or in his many radio and television appearances. His talks have now been heard by 2 million people worldwide making him a highly sought after speaker.
Growing up as a “Cheesehead” in Superior, Wisconsin, Dr. Mike quickly found that his passion, purpose and gift in life was to share his upbeat, positive messages with others from the platform. The minute Dr. Mike takes the stage, you will see that he is unlike any speaker you have ever seen or heard! Not only does he have a unique style as a speaker but also his passion for life shines through in everything he does. He has been dubbed by many as,

Dr. Mike received his undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin-Superior, his masters from Winona State University and his doctorate from “The” Ohio State University in Education and Psychology – “Go Bucks!”
Dr. Mike has pursued roles as an accomplished author, therapist, business coach & consultant, educator, university professor, and internationally admired speaker over the years. His wide variety of professional experience started out in the public school system in Austin, Minnesota working between the schools, court system and the police department. Coming from a family of hockey players, or “Peter Puckers” as he describes them, Dr. Mike even coached the high school hockey team in Austin for 7 years. From there Dr. Mike was asked to join the staff in the Department of Psychology and Psychiatry at The Mayo Clinic, where he started Mayo's first adolescent out-patient alcohol and drug service followed by opening and supervising their first ever adolescent in-patient unit. Dr. Mike went on to become the Director of healthcare centers in Minnesota, Ohio and even the first ever drug-alcohol treatment center in Europe, located in a little village outside of Stockholm, Sweden called Knivsta – Ya Sure!

Over the years Dr. Mike has also had the roles of an Adjunct Associate Professor with “The” Ohio State University and Ashland University teaching his very popular course
“Strategies For Saving Your Sanity In The Classroom” along with
“Instilling Character In Young People”. Dr. Mike is also a Certified Reality Therapist (one of the youngest certified at the time) and President of three successful companies, Thomson ETC., Inc., It’s All About Character and Good Character Media, Inc.

As a result of his wide variety of experience and notoriety, Dr. Mike was asked to be the host of the television series “In Search of Character”
that middle and high schools around the country are being exposed to in order to intentionally raise the bar for good character in students – our future workforce. As a result of Dr. Mike’s passion and concern for the future workforce, he recently authored a companion guide to this DVD series that resonates not only with career & workforce readiness coordinators in the schools but also with organizations such as The Better Business Bureau (BBB). As a valued partner of the BBB, Dr. Mike is working hand in hand with them to help get this comprehensive one-of-a-kind DVD series and companion guide into the hearts and minds of students around this country. The Better Business Bureau as well as Dr. Mike believes that the workforce for the next 45 years in sitting someplace in a classroom in this country and that if those students do not get taught the necessary skills of what good character ethics “in action” really is - the future workforce will be in trouble.
As someone at the University level, you know better than anyone that the University student – our future workforce can be prepared academically for their future but that what the business world is really looking for is a worker of great character. As Dr. Mike states over and over in his talks, “Hire for character and train for skills” is a mantra many business leaders are adopting in looking for their future workforce.
